New cavy trick: go home!

Who says you can't teach an old pig new tricks? Not that we guineas are old... we think. Anyways, we have recently learned to go back into the house on command after grazing on the lawn.

The starting point comes after our human brings us from the yard to the porch - obviously if we had a choice we not be volunteering to leave all that scrumptious grass uneaten. The trick involves walking across the doormat, hopping up through the sliding door and walking around to the front of the cages where there is a temporary opening for us to enter.

However, things don't always go according to plan. In the video clip above Truffle and Belka decided they preferred exploring Revy and Abby-Roo's accommodations rather than returning to their own lodgings. Finding them lacking, Belka opted to follow Poof and Peaches back home while Truffle remained. On other occasions our humans have had to chase adventurous stragglers around the cage perimeter.

Well, can't have it all!

  2. I love Revy as she takes the sharp left instead of going in. Yup. That would be my pigs.

I love that they actually go home!

    Burble-burble.

  3. Revy is a little rebel. If pigs were given grade school report cards, she would earn a check mark next to "Needs Improvement" in the "Follows Directions" category.
