Poof's pellet bowl maneuver

130507

Every morning Belka, Truffle, Peaches, and Poof run to the food bowl when they hear the alarm clock go off. By the time someone opens the door to their room all four are waiting in formation for their morning pellets. (In contrast, Revy and Abby-Roo could never be bothered by something so mundane.)

Lately Poof has developed a habit of using her teeth to move the bowl when she is fed up with sharing. Usually she lifts it and sets it a few steps away from the other three. One morning I reentered the room to see Poof snug inside the cozy, with the pellet bowl tucked neatly in front of her. Somehow she had managed to maneuver the dish into place without spilling a single timothy pellet. While Poof was munching leisurely away, the other three were jostling each other and taking turns in front of the entrance. What a clever peeg!

Do your pigs have a habit of moving their food bowls around? What's the oddest place you've ever discovered an empty bowl?

  1. Most of my pigs tend to keep the bowl in one spot. Cannoli is our current bowl-mover. Abercrombie was my only pig that was as industrious as Poof to move the bowl to where she had absolute control of the pellets.

  2. What a rockstar, Poof! I had to get a really heavy bowl because Jaina pulls it all around the cage with her and would be thrilled with Poof's feat of getting it inside a snuggly cave! Fergie also tosses any bowls if she gets mad, hence the very heavy bowl now....

    1. Peaches also has a habit of throwing food bowls when she's annoyed (aka any time after the bowl has been emptied, how dare it run out of edibles). She would applaud Fergie's efforts and piggy attitude!

  3. Dusty would move it to the other side of the cadge and proceed to use it as a pillow or other assorted sleeping device!

  4. I'm don't have a problem with the pellet bowl moving, but I would like to know who is leaving little poop surprises in the bowl. This means that one of the piggies is heaving her big butt over the two inch lip of the bowl to leave the little presents. I haven't caught the culprit yet. This certainly must take some effort by the stealth piggie pooper.

  5. So cute Poof!!! she is the queen of pellet Bowl!!! <3 Mine dont move their bowls. They are quite heavy so they cannot turn them over. And usually everything is on place except for 2 pillows I just brought that fly across the cavy place. They used to have a cardboard bus and it surely made a trip all around the cavy place over and over again until they eat it all and just the roof was left. I haven found another again and they surely miss it.
