Every year around the beginning of December we head out to choose a Christmas tree and stop by our local pet store. In the spirit of the holiday season, it has become a tradition to buy rescue animals gifts as well as bring home something for our six pigs.
Hosted by family run pet store For Other Living Things, the giving tree fundraiser supports local animal rescue groups. The idea is simple: pick a featured animal and purchase their holiday wish. For Other Living Things records the gifts and distributes them to the corresponding charity at the end of the season. Wishlist items include food, toys, cage accessories, grooming tools, medical supplies, and bedding items. It's a wonderful way to support rescues and bring cheer to a critter's life.
To no one's amazement, I invariably fell for the pigs on the tree. The pictured wheekers came from Cavy House Guinea Pig Rescue, where we adopted Abby-Roo last year. If you're in the Bay Area, be sure to stop by and check it out!
Upon returning home, Peaches and Poof submitted a wishlist request of their own: Get Out of
