The girls have been busy spreading holiday cheer (and piggy beans) from their festively decorated cage. Poinsettia fleece, embroidered stockings, themed cozies, a fleece sleigh, lights, and tinsel garlands - the whole shebang.

Happy 4th! Fireworks Safety Tips For Your Guinea Pigs

Abby-Roo says Happy Independence Day! While you're out enjoying the festivities, don't forget about your piggies. Like many other pets they have sensitive hearing and can easily be spooked by fireworks, car alarms, or other loud noises.

Edible Veggie Tree

The pigs got a special holiday surprise: an edible Christmas tree! Made out of a few of their favorite veggies, the culinary creation took us twenty minutes to assemble - and only two minutes for them to demolish.

Holiday Rescue Tree

Every year around the beginning of December we head out to choose a Christmas tree and stop by our local pet store. In the spirit of the holiday season, it has become a tradition to buy rescue animals gifts as well as bring home something for our six pigs.

Guinea Pig Felt Ornament Tutorial

Deck the halls with... no, not boughs of holly. With herds of guinea pigs!

As promised, here's our craft tutorial for making guinea pig ornaments out of felt. The free template contains a basic potato-shaped piggy pattern, along with two ears. These would make a great gift for the crazy cavy person in your life. Bonus points for personalizing the ornament to match a real-life pig.

Giving Thanks

The pigs would like to take a moment to express their thanksgiving for lettuce, wheatgrass, bell peppers, blueberries... the list goes on.

Poof performed her civic duty by casting her vote at a local polling station (okay, so our humans may have helped). Yes, even this little piggy cares!

Poof and Abby-Roo, Hollywood pigs

Abby-Roo and Poof haven't had a chance to share their guinea pig Halloween costumes yet, so here they are! Both cavies went as Hollywood movie stars. Abby-Roo was only too happy to strut down the red carpet, showing off her immaculately groomed paws in return for a payment of baby carrots at the end.

Getting six rambunctious guinea pigs to pose for photos is always a challenge. For every good group snapshot (loosely defined as a picture where every cavy is in the frame and looking in the general direction of the camera) there are countless other bungled shots.
