Pig Happenings

130712

First of all, I wanted to take a moment to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has tweeted, texted, or left messages of support for Peaches. Your caring and compassion have made this emotional roller coaster more bearable. It's heartwarming to see how supportive the guinea pig community can be.

You may have noticed that there haven't been as many updates lately. Although it has been over two weeks Peaches hasn't recovered as expected. Currently she still is unable to eat on her own and requires syringe feeding, which can take anywhere from 4-6 hours daily. Between taking care of one unwell pig, taking care of the other five healthy pigs, work, our upcoming wedding, and various other projects I haven't been able to find enough time to write.

For the time being, the Cali Cavy Collective blog will temporarily take a backseat while we devote our free time to Peaches' care. There will still be the occasional article here and there, just not as frequently. In the meantime, I'll be updating on social media. Popcorn on over to the Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest for continued piggy cuteness!

  4. Slow recoveries suck. Two months of twice-daily subcues has been awful, but I think that's better than several hand feedings a day. Never thought I'd consider myself lucky to be doing only that.

I'm sorry you and Peaches are going through this. I hope she improves soon. I also hope that you are taking time to care for yourself. Hugs to you and your herd.
