Mowing Season Is Here

It's that time of year again! No, not the holidays. Spring! Blossoms are sprouting, pigs are rejoicing over fresh grass... and us humans are stuck battling the explosion of weeds. But never mind about that.

The Cali Cavy girls were all too happy to get outside the weekend before last. There was even a short term ceasefire that held for a good twenty minutes as they focused on the lawn. After all, priorities! Eat first, squabble later. You can see how thrilled they are in the video.

Back in their cage, Revy and Abby-Roo hopped in their hay box for a post-meal snack. Nothing like a warm sunny day to get a piggy's appetite going. Gotta eat as much as they can before the drought sets in!

  1. We in Massachusetts are so, so jealous.

  2. This is just too cute! We live in a condominium complex and I always want to take my girls out to enjoy the sunshine and nibble down the grass, but am so worried of all the things living in/residing on the grass (dog pee, bugs, etc.) Do you have any other recommendations?

  3. We lived in an apartment complex for a while so I can certainly understand your concern! Fertilizers, pesticides, animal poo... you never know.

Have you tried growing wheatgrass? It's pretty easy even if you don't have a green thumb. Plus you can grow it indoors (no risk of bugs, bacteria, or other nasties). It isn't quite the same as going outside, but pigs love it nonetheless. Here's a link:

    Hope that helps!
