Guinea Pig Wedding Cake Toppers

Guinea pig wedding cake toppers

It's official!

Last week, Mike and I tied the knot in an intimate outdoor ceremony on the shores of a mountainside alpine lake. The brilliant turquoise water glowed as the clouds rolled by overhead. We felt lucky to have gotten married in such a magnificent place.

The only thing missing? The pigs! Initially, I entertained fantasies of a piggy ring bearer scampering down the aisle to us. After all, they sprint across the room on a daily basis upon hearing the first sign of dinner being served. Reality set in when we decided to elope. Although we missed them, they were quite content to putter around back home, basking in the attention from their favorite pigsitter. Like most guineas, those divas enjoy travel as much as they like butt baths. Meaning, not at all.

Nevertheless, we found a way to include them in our day - as guinea pig toppers for our wedding cake! We worked with Holly from My Custom Cake Topper to create a unique design, from the markings and fur types down to the accessories and matching hearts. Both were personalized with our wedding colors: yellow and white. The bride was bedecked with a flower and a veil while the groom was smartly suited up in a top hat.

I was thrilled when I saw them. They looked adorable perched on the berries on top of our wedding cake. Now that we've arrived back home, they occupy a spot of honor on my desk. You know they're special when even your wedding vendor says they're one of a kind!

  3. Thanks for the well wishes Susan! Loved the story about your goldfish (got a laugh picturing the fish wranglers), and the creative ways you included him in your day. Pet lovers unite!

  4. Congratulations! When we got married, we didn't have our pigs yet, but a huge pet fantail goldfish. We had official "fish wranglers" to help him safely join us under the cake at our reception for photos (where oftentimes there would be one of those fountain things), and our cake topper was a bubble-stone aquarium decoration in the shape of two goldfish kissing. Huzzah for pet-related wedding cake decor! Best wishes as you both enter this new part of your life's journey together.

  5. Ah well, if it ever happens and you decide to stay near home.. the pigs could always travel down the aisle to you on a lettuce-covered pillow ;)

  8. Hihi, we have no plans to get married yet (or at all, depends on who you ask), but if we would we would really like to have our piggies there... Though I do understand the hassle of taking the pigs somewhere would complicate that ring bearer fantasy though.

  14. Congrats!!! I love the little toppers. I have a question, I've been doing research but I would like your opinion on owning just one guinea pig. I have lots of time to spend intimate time with the little fella, but I don't know if I could afford to have 2. Would it be selfish of me to not get 2?
